01

Your Pool Has More Life In It Than You Think.

Most pools built in the Houston area are engineered to last 20 to 30 years — but the surfaces, tile, coping, and equipment that make up a pool have shorter service lives than the structure itself. Plaster surfaces typically need resurfacing every 10 to 15 years. Tile grout breaks down. Coping cracks and separates. Equipment efficiency declines.

None of this means you need a new pool. A well-planned and properly executed renovation can deliver a near-new pool experience — updated surface, fresh tile and coping, modern efficient equipment, new aesthetic — at a fraction of what a new pool build would cost.

Diamond Pool Maintenance handles pool renovation projects from initial assessment through final inspection and startup. Every project begins with a documented evaluation of your pool’s current condition, a written scope of work, and an itemized estimate you approve before any work begins. No hidden charges. No scope additions without your explicit sign-off.

How a Diamond Remodel Works from Start to Finish.

Initial Assessment
We visit your property, evaluate the pool’s current condition across every component — surface, structure, tile, coping, deck, equipment — and have an honest conversation about what you want the end result to look like, what your priorities are, and what your budget range is. This is not a sales visit. We’re gathering the information needed to give you an accurate scope and proposal.

Written Scope and Estimate
Based on the assessment, we produce a detailed written scope of work and an itemized estimate. You’ll know exactly what is included, what it costs, and what the timeline looks like before you commit to anything. If your priorities require us to phase the project, we’ll structure it that way.

Material Selection
We guide you through surface material, tile, and coping selections. We’ll explain the practical differences between options — durability, maintenance requirements, how each performs in Houston’s climate — so you’re making an informed choice, not just a visual one.

Project Execution
Our team manages the project from start to finish. You’ll receive progress updates at key milestones. If we encounter something unexpected during demolition or prep — a structural issue, a plumbing problem hidden beneath the deck — we stop, document what we found, and communicate with you before proceeding.

Final Inspection and Startup
Every remodel concludes with a comprehensive final inspection: surface finish quality, tile and grout integrity, coping alignment, equipment operation, plumbing checks, and initial chemical startup. We walk through the completed project with you, document the finished condition, and confirm everything is operating correctly before we consider the project closed.

Signs Your Pool Is Ready for Renovation.

The following indicators are common signs that a pool remodel or renovation is needed. Recognizing these signs early can help protect your investment and prevent more costly structural damage.

Plaster surface is rough to the touch, visibly stained, or showing chipping and delamination
Waterline tile is cracked, missing, or has significant grout deterioration
Coping is cracked, lifting at joints, or separating from the bond beam
Deck surface is faded, cracked, uneven, or poses a slip hazard
Equipment is aging — single speed pump, gas heater more than 10 years old, outdated control system
Pool has been owned for 10+ years with no major renovation
The pool's aesthetic no longer reflects the quality of the home
Property is being prepared for sale — pool condition affects appraisal and buyer perception
Many renovation projects are more cost-effective than homeowners expect — particularly when multiple components are addressed simultaneously. Surface work, tile, and coping done together share mobilization costs that would otherwise be paid separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pool Remodel & Renovation

Timeline varies significantly by scope. A straightforward resurface with tile replacement typically takes 1 to 2 weeks from start to refill and chemical startup. More complex projects involving deck work, equipment replacement, or structural changes run longer. We provide a realistic timeline estimate in your written scope.

Most interior surface work and significant tile or coping projects require a full drain. Partial drains may be appropriate for limited tile or coping repairs. We'll specify what's required in your project scope.

Quartz aggregate and pebble tec finishes hold up better than traditional plaster in Houston's heat and water chemistry environment. They are more durable, more stain-resistant, and have a longer service life. Plaster remains a viable option at a lower price point. We'll discuss the trade-offs during your assessment.

It depends on whether the original tile is still available. We'll assess during the initial visit and let you know what options exist. In many cases, a full waterline tile replacement produces a cleaner result than partial matching.

Depending on the scope of work, permits may be required by the City of Tomball or Harris County. We handle the permit process for work that requires it. We'll address this in your project scope.

Not necessarily. We evaluate your existing equipment as part of the initial assessment and recommend upgrades only when genuinely warranted — equipment that is failing, significantly undersized, or so inefficient that replacement makes economic sense. We do not bundle unnecessary equipment into renovation projects to inflate the contract value.

We do not currently offer in-house financing. We can connect you with third-party financing resources if that would be helpful. Contact us to discuss.

We take precautions to minimize impact on surrounding landscaping, decking, and outdoor structures — but renovation work is inherently disruptive to the immediate area around the pool. We'll discuss specific concerns during your initial assessment.
